Principal's Welcome

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Lee – a community of learners!  We are excited that your children are a part of our elementary student body.  Our staff welcomes the opportunity of working with you as partners supporting our school vision “Success For All”.  We live in a changing world, and we welcome the challenges to make sure Lee students are prepared with the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for becoming successful workers, family members and citizens in the 21st century.

Our major focus this year will be “personalization” – making sure our school is designed so that every student has an adult advocate and a personal plan for progress.  The Lee School Improvement Plan supports the school vision “Success For All” – ensuring that all students are achieving at high levels.  The Gates Foundation and Beacons Project grants have supported our school improvement efforts over the past three years.

Lee has a strong tradition of family involvement and communication between home and school.  We look forward to a cooperative partnership with you, and encourage you to be actively involved in your child’s education this year – joining PTO is a great way to start.  The Lee Student Care Program is supporting Lee families.  We take pride in the positive, caring and inviting school climate.  We will be continuing our school wide emphasis on character education this year.

High academic standards and on-going school improvement are important at Lee.  Statewide school reform is alive and well, and will be impacting teaching and learning in your child’s classroom.  The statewide academic standards known as Essential Learnings  for reading, writing, communication, mathematics, and science provide our targets for student learning.

We trust that this handbook will serve as a handy reference concerning school policies, procedures and expectations.   If you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas, please contact me or your child’s teacher.

Have a great year!
